Software for RISC OS and Acorn computer systems David Pilling SoftwareWe don't stock many third-party programs because we've got rather a lot of our own and we take the view that it's normally best in these days of telephones and credit cards to go direct to the source (but if there's anything you want and you'd rather order from us we'll get it). However we do keep David Pilling's programs, mainly because you can't order directly from him by phone. We usually have the items shown below in stock, but if there's anything else you want we can get it very quickly. If you want TWAIN drivers then check availability from David Pilling's website and then give us a call. The best DTP package available for RISC OS machines. Now on CD with loaders for Impression Publisher. Great value, especially at the special APDL price of only £139 inlcuding VAT and UK carriage. (Outside UK please add £5 for EC, deduct £5 elsewhere.) If you need a DTP program or wordprocessor but your budget won't stretch to Ovation Pro the earlier version of Ovation is still available in the APDL - ProAction range. SparkFSThe best archive filing system for RISC OS. Will read and write ZIP, ARC, TAR, ARJ, LZH, PacDir, Zoo and McStuffit files. As it's a proper image filing system you can load or run data and programs direct from the archive without the need to de-arc them first. There are various freeware programs that will read and write ZIP files but if you're using the internet to download programs you can't afford to be without SparkFS, especially at the APDL price of just £22 inclusive. SpellDesktop spelling checker. Can check text files, HTML, etc. Progress is shown in a window and you can substitue the correctly spelled word from the dictionary or correct manually. Easy to add new words and create special dictionaries. Can also check as you type and will 'beep' if you mis-spell a word. Ideal for email! Price is just £9.90 inclusive. Chess IIProbably the best chess game available for RISC OS. Lots of features and suitable for anyone from novice up to tournament level. Works on almost any machine with RO 3.1 or better and costs only £16 inclusive. ArcFaxIf you've got a fax-modem (and if you're reading this you've probably got an internet connection so you almost certainly have) then this will let you send and receive faxes from your desktop. Behaves rather like a printer driver, so it's very easy to use, in fact, you send a fax just like printing a file. Price is just £31 inclusive. |
